A Story of Fascination for the City and Its Old Houses
At the start of this century, the city center was almost uninhabited and in a terrible state of disrepair. People had moved to new homes on the outskirts, and at night, Porto felt like a ghost town. Casa do Ofício was born from the passion of a family that loves breathing new life into old houses. We are deeply connected to Porto, our city, and we love sharing a piece of it with those who visit us.

It all started in 2004, when we bought our first house in the heart of Porto. The house was completely abandoned—only pigeons called it home, like so many others in the city center at the time. But we managed to save some treasures: the plaster ceilings on the first floor, the century-old woodwork, the staircase railing, and even the skylight. Since we didn’t need the entire house, part of it became our office, while the rest was rented out. The work was so well received that it earned awards from the Ordem dos Arquitetos (Order of Architects) and Porto City Hall, and it was even featured in the renowned ArchDaily!

In 2013, we rolled up our sleeves again and bought another house, this time on Rua dos Caldeireiros. It was a smaller and even older house, located in the heart of the medieval city wall, right in the UNESCO World Heritage zone. It was in terrible condition, but we couldn’t resist the challenge. More recently, during the pandemic, we restored one apartment and gave a fresh new look to two others in a 1950s building on Rua Miguel Bombarda.
If you share this kind of enthusiasm, you can now experience the results for yourself. We offer a total of 2 mini-studios, 6 studios, one T1 duplex apartment, a T2, and two T3 apartments.
Our guests often highlight the architecture, the decoration, and the care we put into every detail. Not to mention the warm welcome and the tips we provide for exploring Porto. Why not come and see for yourself? We’re ready to welcome you!
